Ajman Sewerage – Wastewater Treatment Plant in Ajman – The First Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Sewerage System in the UAE

Under the partnership of the Government of Ajman, and two leading international experts from the private sector: BESIX and Veolia and the guidance and leadership of our Chairman His Highness Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, we have steadily emerged as the region’s flagship, fully developed, independent used water collection and treatment facility.

Over the last couple of years, our goal has been to bring water to life - a milestone that we have since surpassed and one that has resulted in the significant reduction of wastewater through transforming and using this valuable resource to improve Ajman’s green spaces.

We are now proud to be associated with yet another life-changing cause. We have embarked on a mission to transform water to H2ALL or Happiness to All (H2ALL). H2ALL will accelerate our efforts to offer customer-driven sustainable solutions. This, we believe, will lead to a complete transformation of spaces and areas into livable neighborhoods that improve the quality of life in our community.

Our ideals are driven by the need to significantly enhance the standard of living of the Ajman residents and visitors alike. This we do through the provision of sustainable wastewater treatment solutions that support cleaner and greener spaces, which ultimately bring happiness to all. This goal is underscored by our core values - Excellence, Collaboration, Loyalty, Commitment and Flexibility.

Uses of Recycled Water

Recycled water has many uses after it’s treated. We have and continue to identify sustainable uses of all the recycled water that emanates from our treatment plant as part of our masterplan to ensure that no (treated) water goes to waste.

Water as a resource is rapidly becoming scarce. Use of treated wastewater can reverse this life-threatening trend. Inspired by UAE’s vision for green energy, we continue to encourage increased use of recycled water for commercial and industrial applications, unrestricted irrigation, wetlands maintenance, turf irrigation (golf courses) among others.

Our Flagship Project - Sludge to Energy

Arguably one of our most high-impact projects, the sludge to energy initiative is the culmination of our vision to transform Ajman, and by extension, catapult UAE’s objective to become an energy efficient nation sooner rather than later.

The sludge to energy project was mooted in 2019 and it is aimed at generating green electricity from all the biogas collected at our treatment plant and incinerated in Co-generation Heat and Power engines.

This initiative, has the capacity to generate over 26,000 kilowatts of green electricity will not only help us to significantly reduce our energy cost but also ensure that we save our landfills in the process. This also means that we shall also contribute immensely to the reduction of the region’s greenhouse emissions footprint in the long run.
